Snowdon Park – Minden Hills

On December 31, 2018 I went for a walk with family to Snowdon Park, just a short drive east of Minden. This was our first visit to this 460 preserve.

Needless to say, going in the middle of winter results in plain white snow covered photographs. So my search was to find something … anything of interest that wasn’t simply a tree covered in snow. During our visit we walked most of the trail system except the one large loop that has an old abandoned car. That would have made for an interesting photo and in hindsight I should have requested we find the car, but that will have to be for another visit. Continue Reading →

Kingston Penitentiary Museum

In September 2018 my father and I did a road trip to Kingston to participate in the thorough 2.5hr tour of the Kingston Penitentiary Museum.  This tour is very well spoken of and we learned why.  It is very well ran and very interesting.  What helped make the tour so good was the retired staff that worked as tour guides in various areas of the prison.  To listen to them talk about first hand experiences when they were employed at the prison added an incredible amount of detail and interest to the tour. The towns of St. Jacobs and Elora

In July 2018 my wife and I went for a weekend trip to the towns of St. Jacobs and Elora with a brief stop at her old employer Bronte Creek Provincial Park.  During this 2 day trip I focused on B&W photography and only brought the Fuji X-Pro1, the Fuji 10-24/F4 (to use only if it was needed) and my favorite vintage lens, the 1973 Canon 24/2.8.  Continue Reading →
