Kingston Penitentiary Museum

In September 2018 my father and I did a road trip to Kingston to participate in the thorough 2.5hr tour of the Kingston Penitentiary Museum.  This tour is very well spoken of and we learned why.  It is very well ran and very interesting.  What helped make the tour so good was the retired staff that worked as tour guides in various areas of the prison.  To listen to them talk about first hand experiences when they were employed at the prison added an incredible amount of detail and interest to the tour. Flight over Peterborough County

This August I headed for the open sky for an hour long flight over Peterborough and the surrounding area.  Knowing I could get a few unique photos (unique for me) I brought the Fuji XT2 and two lenses.  The Rokinon 8/2.8 fish eye and the Fuji 50-140/2.8.  The fish eye lens gave the usual fun perspective when on the ground, but when in the sky flying between 2000 – 3500 feet I found the focal length of the telephoto lens (this setup produces a full frame focal length of approx 75-210mm) to be just fine. The towns of St. Jacobs and Elora

In July 2018 my wife and I went for a weekend trip to the towns of St. Jacobs and Elora with a brief stop at her old employer Bronte Creek Provincial Park.  During this 2 day trip I focused on B&W photography and only brought the Fuji X-Pro1, the Fuji 10-24/F4 (to use only if it was needed) and my favorite vintage lens, the 1973 Canon 24/2.8.  Continue Reading →
