Caribbean Cruise – Feb 2020 – Norwegian Getaway

Late February 2020, my wife and I took a brief winter escape on the NCL Getaway.  A Caribbean cruise that sailed out of New Orleans.  On this 7 day cruise we visited Cozumel, Roatan, Belize and Costa Maya.  When we returned to New Orleans we had a few hours before we needed to arrive at the Louis Armstrong airport so we had some time walking the streets of New Orleans.

Day 1 was on the sea as we headed towards Cozumel.
Day 2 was a beautiful restful day in Cozumel where we grabbed a cab and spent the day on the beach in Chankanaab park.
Day 3 was great day in Roatan where we did a pre-booked excursion to Gumbalimba Park.
Day 4 was a colder overcast day where we spent time in a brand new Norwegian resort. A location for shopping, eating, drinking and lazing on the beach.
Day 5 was a fantastic day in Costa Maya, Mexico. We rented bicycles and went for a ride to a neighbouring shopping/tourism centre Mahahual.  If you dream of retiring and selling coconuts on the beach, this is the spot you would do it.
Day 6 was on the sea heading back to New Orleans.
Day 7 was walking the streets of New Orleans.

A few specs on the NCL Getaway.  It set sail in Feb 2014, has a passenger capacity of 3900, crew of 1600, is 1068ft long, a draft of 29ft, has 18 decks and a cruising speed of 21.5 knots (40km/hr).  Details are from Wikipedia.

For this trip I brought the Fujifilm X-T2 and X-Pro1, the Fujifilm 10-24/4 lens and the Rokinon 8mm fisheye lens.
